胎兒纖連蛋白（fFN）是由胎兒細(xì)胞和某些類型的腫瘤細(xì)胞產(chǎn)生的纖連蛋白。如果可能發(fā)生早產(chǎn)并且可以在篩選試驗(yàn)中測(cè)量胎兒纖連蛋白“泄漏”到陰道中。當(dāng)fFN測(cè)試為陽(yáng)性時(shí)，這是一個(gè)不確定的結(jié)果。一個(gè)積極的結(jié)果可能表明一個(gè)女人很快會(huì)進(jìn)入早產(chǎn)，但她可能不會(huì)勞動(dòng)數(shù)周。當(dāng)fFN測(cè)試結(jié)果為陰性時(shí)，結(jié)果是更好的預(yù)測(cè)因子。陰性結(jié)果意味著在接下來(lái)的7到10天內(nèi)早產(chǎn)的可能性很小，并且對(duì)于仍然處于高風(fēng)險(xiǎn)的女性，可以每周重復(fù)測(cè)試。胎兒纖連蛋白陰性測(cè)試顯示，在接下來(lái)的2周內(nèi)，未發(fā)送的可能性超過(guò)95％。
fFN也分泌到膀胱癌（移行細(xì)胞癌）患者的尿液中，并且可以在肝癌，乳腺癌和肺癌細(xì)胞系的組織培養(yǎng)上清液中檢測(cè)到。fFN基因調(diào)控可能的胎兒 - 胎兒關(guān)系表明fFN可能是某些癌癥的早期生物標(biāo)志物。
